Hypothyroidism is a fairly common in middle aged or older women. It’s causes aren’t totally known yet, but science thinks that a variety of factors including age and lack of sufficient nutrition is to blame.
Hypothyroidism is a condition that causes your thyroid to become underactive. Since the thyroid is what controls your level of activity, or your energy output, it can cause lethargy, apathy and just a general downturn in your willingness to put forth energy.
The most common cause of hypothyroidism is Hashimoto’s disease, a disease which causes your immune system to attack you thyroid. Stress and poor nutrition are the other two leading causes.
While treatment for thyroid problems can be achieved easily by a doctor, while waiting for your medication to kick in, you may need help getting rid of your symptoms.
