The Healthies, Tastiest & Easiest Bread: Peasant Bread

Who doesn’t love the smell of fresh baked bread going throughout the house? I know I do, but sometimes break making is just too much of a task!

This bread is so perfectly simple that it would be a shame for you not to make it. It is a no-knead bread, which is great for most people, because I know the kneading process is what puts me off from bread making most of the time.

This bread also is made with no artificial ingredients at all, and if you care about your health, this is a big thing!

Why buy commercially packaged bread, when you could make your own bread easily at home? Give it a try and let us know how it turned out!

Ingredients:

2 Cups whole wheat flour

1 Tsp Himalayan crystal salt

1 Cup Lukewarm water

1 Tsp Sugar [personally, I don’t recommend adding sugar]

1 Tsp Active dry yeast

1 Tbsp organic butter brought to room temperature

Method:

In a small mixing bowl, add the sugar into the water and let it dissolve. Sprinkle the yeast over the top. Do not stir, let stand for 10 minutes, or until the mixture is foamy.

In a large mixing bowl whisk the whole wheat flour and Himalayan crystal salt together. Once the yeast mixture is foamy add it into the flour and mix until flour is absorbed.

Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and set aside in a warm spot to rise for at least one hour.

Preheat the oven to 425F, Grease one oven safe bowls with 1 Tablespoon of organic butter [or non-GMO, organic, vegetable oil].

Using a fork punch down your dough. Scrape it from the sides of the bowl entirely, and then take the dough mound and place it into your prepared bowl. Let it rise for 30 more minutes on your countertop near the oven.

Bake your bread for 15 minutes, reduce the heat to 375 and bake for 15-17 minutes more. Remove from the oven and turn onto a cooling rack. Let sit 10 minutes before cutting.
