I want you all to do something right now. Forget about everything that you need to do, forget about where you are or what time it is and let’s do something together.
I want you all to take a deep breath. Just take your time and take a big breath. Close your eyes, continue to breathe deeply and count your breaths from 20 to 0.
Your mind will probably start racing generating thoughts about what you need to do, tasks you need to finish, why some bozo crossed the road you were driving on or what was the name of the person who invented the toilet paper.
That’s ok, let your thoughts flow and focus on your breathing. Let your thoughts flow in the background and count down to 0. Start now. I’ll wait…

I hope you all did the short exercise because it’s the essence of understanding the secret.
I want you to do one more thing. Become aware of how you feel after the exercise. How do you feel right now? You are calmer, more relaxed… all in all you are happier right?
None of those things happened, in fact nothing really happened outside of you to make you happy, you did that all by yourself. How?
Well, let me explain to you what happened
Our bodies remove 70% of their toxins through breathing. Enabling higher oxygen content in our blood strengthens our capacity to remove the toxins, enhances neurochemical production in the brain, improves circulation, reduces stress and makes our bodies’ functions more efficient.
All of this, results in being more relaxed when breathing deeply.
Focusing on our breath by counting down, we blur out everything else. All of our thoughts about the past or the future are in the background, while our main focus is on the now.
Becoming aware of the now, of the present moment, and of you being here and now, calms our mind. It calms our mind because there are no worries in the present moment. There are no “what if”-s or “I need to”-s.
Through the whole infinity and eternity you are here and now, there is no past or future, and you just exist in that moment as yourself. There is nothing more that you need, in order to be happy.
The subconscious realization of this makes us grateful for being alive and that gratitude is the essential reason for experiencing happiness, true happiness.
There is no external factor that will make us experience this true happiness if we don’t have an internal factor to permit it.
Even if we win the lottery, even if we make all of our dreams reality, we won’t experience true happiness if we are not aware of the present moment; if we are not grateful for our existence here and now.
The thing is, when we are affected by external factors, — let’s say that we want a faster car — and we make our wish come true, we are happy at that moment because we are grateful for the faster car.
The only difference between that happiness and the happiness from just existing in the present is that the external factors are not always there for us to be happy.
There is also a study which proved that the levels of happiness from external factors like winning a lottery are the same, maybe even smaller, than the levels of happiness coming from living in the moment.
The great secret of happiness is that we don’t need anything or anyone to be happy. It is something we choose to be because, well, we can.
Happiness is the journey, not the destination. Just let yourself be happy!
