The Fatal Mixture in Healthcare: Dogma and Misinformation

By Dr. Michelle Kmiec

Our society is sicker and far more drug dependent than ever before. Yet few people are asking the obvious questions.

Why are we so sick with new diseases and syndromes each year?

Why the need for prescription drugs on top of more prescription drugs?

And fewer still are asking the most obvious question of all:

Could all this sickness be due to health deficiencies caused by: air pollution, contaminated oceans, nutrition-deprived processed and fast foods, nutrition stripped over-farmed soil, and genetically modified foods?

We have become a “symptom suppressing” society that is basically too drugged and numbed by doctors to even notice! The irony being that it isn’t illegal drugs that we should be worried about, but the “legal” ones!

A groundbreaking study was done by Gary Null, PhD; Carolyn Dean MD, ND; Martin Feldman, MD; Debora Rasio, MD; and Dorothy Smith, PhD known as “Death by Medicine”.

In the report, they found that a shocking 783,936 deaths occur each year caused by conventional medicine! That is the equivalent to the horror of the 911 terrorist attacks happening nearly 266 times per year!

We allow this travesty, because they (the “health experts”) have convinced us that we must take this or that drug, have this or that surgery… or suffer the consequences of death. Really? Seems to me that death is occurring anyway!

But, there is more to the problem than just prescriptions drugs and medical errors. Call me a crazy chiropractor, but if you actually take a step back and really take a look at the state of our general health, it becomes obvious that we are simply counteracting our ‘chemically-polluted and nutritionally-deprived environment induced diseases’ with even more chemicals – Effectively striking humanity with a “modern medicine” and “evidence-based science” one-two punch. Will it be humanity’s knockout?

This leads to the following question, “How did we get here?” After all, with all our so-called medical advances, shouldn’t we be the healthiest people of all the past ages?

If the purpose of science is to find the truth, acquire the knowledge, and apply the wisdom learned, why then isn’t it? What is distorting, or worse, blinding the truth about our current methods, thus destroying humanity down to the cellular level? Is it really power and money as many suggests?

Well, there is absolutely no doubt that this is indeed a major factor, but is it really the main cause? I have come to believe that there is a fundamentally deeper cause for our current state of mind regarding healthcare and I have named it, “Dogmatic Delusional Disorder (DDD)”. And it’s an epidemic.

DDD is a the term that applies to any person who disregards the fundamental relationship between “life” as it relates to “health” and chooses, instead, to adopt a specific doctrine that refuses to evolve beyond the rhetoric in spite of the obvious lack of logic. This process would compel an otherwise normal intellect to believe conventional illogical falsehoods.

Furthermore, the individuals involved in this type of medicine and science are convinced that their method is sound. They are, in fact, unaware that they are victims of DDD.

What defines the distinction between ignorance and knowledge? The apparent answer is to depart from ignorance, via learning, in order to become educated.

But does education equal knowledge and more importantly, does knowledge equal truth?

A perfect example of the so-called “knowledge” is when we “knew” the earth was “in fact” the center of the universe. And that the sun and other planets orbited around the earth. So what does that say about knowledge?

This “knowledge” was so ingrained, that any opposition to it was actually considered heresy of the modern science of the day. So prevalent, that it was also deeply intertwined with religious belief. So, the inevitable occurred.

The only science obtained knowledge that would be accepted as truth, had to correspond directly to the church. If it did not, then that knowledge would again be labeled heresy. This is a perfect example of how a dogmatic doctrine can taint, and disregard truth, in order to keep the current belief alive.

And at any cost, in other words: DDD!

But, eventually, a change in paradigm finally occurred and we stepped away from the dogmatic quicksand and progressed forward. Or have we?

An article entitled ‘Scientific Savvy? In U.S. Not Much’ published in August of 2005 in the New York Times by Cornelia Dean proves that dogmatic belief is more deeply imbedded in the human psyche than you may think. Cornelia Dean writes:

“Dr. Miller, 63, a political scientist who directs the Center for Biomedical Communications at the medical school, studies how much Americans know about science and what they think about it. His findings are not encouraging…

… Dr. Miller’s data reveal some yawning gaps in basic knowledge. American adults in general do not understand what molecules are (other than that they are really small). Fewer than a third can identify DNA as a key to heredity. Only about 10 percent know what radiation is. One adult American in five thinks the Sun revolves around the Earth, an idea science had abandoned by the 17th century…”

Now, how does this all relate to our healthcare crisis of today? It relates, because although for the most part, it appears that we have not evolved with respect to healthcare. Sadly, our dogmatic positions are alive and well.

It could also be said that I carry a strong dogmatic position as well. Let’s explore this assumption.

I dogmatically believe that human beings thrive under healthy conditions and diminish under unhealthy ones. In other words, a human being would be healthier breathing non-polluted air, drinking chemical-free water, eating mercury-free fish, meat free of antibiotics and hormones, vegetables free of pesticides, and a diet free of non-nutritious processed and fast foods.

That if we, as a “modern advanced” society, would place our focus on achieving such an environment, we would dramatically reduce our level of health conditions and diseases; if not eliminate them completely.

I dogmatically believe that due to our current environment and lack of nutrients in our food, people are fundamentally deficient of multiple nutrients, which then causes the imbalances in the body ultimately resulting in disease.

And, I dogmatically believe that treating the symptoms of these imbalances by using drugs and surgery does not result in a cure, but rather perpetuates the cycle of sickness and disease.

So there, I admit it. I am dogmatically positioned!

Now with that all cleared up, let’s continue with our discussion.

Do we even know, or have any idea, about the long-term health effects that all these chemicals, which bombard us on a daily basis, may bring? I haven’t even begun to mention the possible ill-effects from microwaves, computers, cell phones, chemtrails, etc.

But, let me being clear here. I have nothing against technology. I’m not suggesting that we throw away new inventions. What I am suggesting is, that if money weren’t the bottom-line to just about everything, perhaps healthier precautions could be taken against the dangers that are known to accompany such technological advancements. However, such as it is with cars, the more expensive the car the safer it is…the cheaper the car, the higher the risk.

When did society become so obsessive-compulsive regarding money and total profit over human health and well-being?

This brings me back to me original question. How is it that two different intelligent people can have such opposite points of view on any given topic?

The difference is often a battle of whose knowledge is better. Whose knowledge is correct? Someone must be “right”, and if one is “right”, then the “right” one has the knowledge while the “wrong” one does not. But, before we go any further, let’s talk about knowledge.

The opposite of knowledge is ignorance. The correction of ignorance is knowledge. But what if learned knowledge is based on misinformation, half-truths, and propaganda? Would not the opposite of this kind of knowledge, in fact, be ignorance, disguised as knowledge? Since what we are seeking is the truth, and only knowledge based on truth is correct, then why isn’t that which we deem as knowledge based on truth?

Even in science, the so-called non-affiliated field of exploration in search of truth is immersed in the shadow of dogma. As long as scientists are human beings, then their beliefs and actions can be tainted by those who fund their research, and by the misuse of power. Thus, they end up with dogmatic views. Scientists themselves are aware of this and that is why the “Scientific Method” was developed in the first place.

In hopes of having specific guidelines that prevents the tainted nature of man, and his dogmatic views, to infiltrate into science and the search for pure truth.

However, no method created by man can prevent the innate condition of the dogmatic view, which is innate to man.

What do I mean by this?

In the effort to create a scientific method, one vital component was forgotten. Man and his never-ending greedy ego. Despite the effort to protect the scientific method from humanities apparent flaw, we forgot that what we create, we can manipulate. After all, it is man that makes the rules in the first place.

But, I have to admit, that this is a brilliant way to manipulate the population. How? By keeping the population in ignorance via the belief that their health and well-being, is in the good hands of the “correctly” educated. With that said – if the antidote to ignorance is education, then what is the antidote to the misinformation embedded within that education?

While it seems logical that misinformation can be counteracted by giving people the true information, to political scientists Brendan Nyhan and Jason Reifler, co-authors, “When Corrections Fail: The persistence of political misperceptions”, found that despite learning of the correct information that should clarify the misperception, it was virtually useless against the dogmatically positioned doctrines. In other words, despite the presentation of the actual truth, people still didn’t want to change their dogmatic position.

So, what are we to do when even in the face of truth, we deny its existence?

Note: The article above is an excerpt from Dr. Michelle Kmiec’s book ‘Healthcare Freedom Revolution: Exposing the Lies, Deceit and Greed of the Medical Profession’ (Revised Edition). It is a unique book that busts long-standing health myths in a straight forward way, and reveals how you can regain control of your health… regardless of what “they” may have told you.
