1. "The moment you follow someone you cease to follow Truth."

2. "All authority of any kind, especially in the field of thought and understanding, is the most destructive, evil thing. Leaders destroy the followers and followers destroy the leaders. You have to be your own teacher and your own disciple. You have to question everything that man has accepted as valuable, as necessary."

3. "Truth is a pathless land. Man cannot come to it through any organization, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, nor through any philosophical knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the mirror of relationship, through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation, and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection."

4. "The highest form of human intelligence is to observe yourself without judgement."

5. "The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed."

6. “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”

7. "In obedience there is always fear, and fear darkens the mind."

8. “The flowering of love is meditation.”

9. “A man who is not afraid is not aggressive, a man who has no sense of fear of any kind is really a free, a peaceful man.”

10. "The right kind of education is concerned with individual freedom, which alone can bring true cooperation with the whole, with the many; but this freedom is not achieved through the pursuit of one's own aggrandizement and success. Freedom comes with self-knowledge, when the mind goes above and beyond the hindrances it has created for itself through craving its own security."

11. "Self-knowledge is not knowing oneself, but knowing every movement of thought."

12. "Meditation is to be aware of thought, of feeling, never to correct it, never to say it is right or wrong, never to justify it, but just to watch it and move with it. In that watching and moving with that thought, with that feeling, you begin to understand and to be aware of the whole nature of thought and feeling.

Silence comes when thought has understood its own beginning, the nature of itself, how all thought is never free but always old. To see all this, to see the movement of every thought, to understand it, to be aware of it, is to come to that silence which is meditation, in which the 'observer' never is."

13. "The purpose of education is to cultivate right relationship, not only between individuals, but also between the individual and society; and that is why it is essential that education should, above all, help the individual to understand his own psychological process. Intelligence lies in understanding oneself and going above and beyond oneself; but there cannot be intelligence as long as there is fear."

14. "Right education should help the student, not only to develop his capacities, but to understand his own highest interest."

15. "First of all, to understand truth you must stand alone, entirely and wholly alone. No Master, no teacher, no guru, no system, no self-discipline will ever lift for you the veil which conceals wisdom. Wisdom is the understanding of enduring values and the living of those values. No one can lead you to wisdom."

16. "Truth can only come to the mind that is empty of the known. It comes in a state in which the known is absent, not functioning."

17. "The man who is seeking comfort does not want truth; he only wants security, safety, a refuge in which he will not be disturbed. But a man who is seeking truth must invite disturbances, tribulations because it is only in moments of crisis that there is alertness, watchfulness, action. Then only that which is is discovered and understood."

18. "What is fear? Fear can exist only in relation to something, not in isolation. How can I be afraid of death, how can I be afraid of something I do not know? I can be afraid only of what I know. When I say I am afraid of death, am I really afraid of the unknown, which is death, or am I afraid of losing what I have known? My fear is not of death but of losing my association with things belonging to me. My fear is always in relation to the known, not to the unknown."

19. "Love is different from emotion and feeling. Love cannot be brought into the field of thought; whereas feeling and emotion can be brought. Love is a flame without smoke, ever fresh, creative, joyous. Such love is dangerous to society, to relationship."

20. "Love is not of the mind, it is not in the net of thought, it cannot be sought out, cultivated, cherished; it is there when the mind is silent and the heart is empty of the things of the mind."

21. "Love is a state of being, and in that state, the 'me', with its identifications, anxieties, and possessions, is absent. Love cannot be, as long as the activities of the self, of the 'me', whether conscious or unconscious, continue to exist. That is why it is important to understand the process of the self, the center of recognition which is the 'me'."

22. "I maintain that truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. That is my point of view, and I adhere to that absolutely and unconditionally. Truth, being limitless, unconditioned, unapproachable by any path whatsoever, cannot be organized; nor should any organization be formed to lead or coerce people along a particular path."

23. "I am concerning myself with only one essential thing: to set man free. I desire to free him from all cages, from all fears, and not to found religions, new sects, nor to establish new theories and new philosophies."

  1. Good quotes, but take Romney's add out out of your page lol

    1. Dear Friend,
I would exclude everything related to politics, but unfortunately Google chooses the ads for me.

I despise politics (because they are corrupt and obsolete) and politicians, and my message to all Americans is: "DO NOT VOTE!". Your vote is validating their criminal actions.

  2. Bless this beautiful man. Krisnamurti was so astoundingly natural, practical, bright, and wise in his expression of the truth. Everything he said was so spot on and a perrenial reminder of how to go about the process of enlightenment and freedom of being. Thank you for posting this. I wish more people would study or acknowledge this mans works, as he made a great contribution to humanity in his lifetime. 25 years ago he really helped me realise I was on the right track in my own way and I have never looked back.

  3. I guess the advertisements depend on the place You are in, I myself am from Europe and the only adds I see are about meditation and brain training, which really fit the atmosphere of this website :)

  4. I never had read Krisnamurti before. This very posting has made me read his work. Krisnamurti will be the second person I found in the last century after Osho who had given much contribution in unburdening the human being with all kind of useless mind and social related matters.
